Sony and Ready at Dawn have confirmed that they've delayed the release of The Order: 1886 until early 2015 in order to ensure that it delivers a great and polished experience.

The Order: 1886 was first revealed to the world last year at E3 2013 and developer Ready at Dawn promised to deliver a visually stunning third-person shooter experience with all sorts of great mechanics designed to bring to life its vision of Victorian London.

The game has seen some new gameplay footage appear last week, while rumors about its fall release have floated online for quite some time.

Now, however, Sony has confirmed that it's decided alongside Ready at Dawn to delay the release of The Order: 1886 until early 2015 in order to ensure that the title will deliver the experience many fans are hoping for.

"As we look to bring this experience to the players, we have decided to spend some extra time to deliver on the promise we made when we first introduced the game," Sony said about the delay. "As such, you can expect The Order: 1886 to come exclusively to the PlayStation 4 in early 2015."

You can expect to hear more about The Order: 1886 in a few weeks at E3 2014, during Sony's press conference on June 9.
