The team working on Dreamfall Chapters at developer Red Thread Games says that it has long term plans for the franchise, which include the development of The Longest Journey Home.

Ragnar Tornquist, the leading developer of Dreamfall Chapters, tells Eurogamer that “Because Dreamfall was always a parallel – another story in the universe, so Longest Journey never got a direct sequel, so we want to do Longest Journey Home.”

The team wants to create high-resolution painted backdrops for the game in order to deliver the most impressive adventure game, from a graphical point of view.

Home will use core point and click gaming mechanics, and the entire experience is designed to appeal to a different audience than that of Dreamfall Chapters.

The game was funded via Kickstarter and is expected to launch in 2014.
