The development team at Naughty Dog says that those who buy the digital version of The Last of Us from the PlayStation Store will be able to actually play the starting section of the game while the rest continues to download in the background.

Gamers will have to wait for half of the game to be on their hard drive before launching it, according to a statement offered to Game Informer.

It’s interesting to note that playing while a video game is still being downloaded is a feature that Sony has announced for the upcoming PlayStation 4.

It seems that the current gen device is capable of a similar feat.

Naughty Dog has long been one of the teams that were able to get the most out of the PS3.

The Last of Us will be launched on June 14.
