The European and North American megaservers for The Elder Scrolls Online will go down for maintenance today, April 11, at different times so that Bethesda and Zenimax Online Studios can improve the overall performance of the MMORPG.

The Elder Scrolls Online was finally revealed to the world earlier this month on the PC and Mac platforms, allowing fans of the role-playing game universe to embark on the first multiplayer experience set within it.

The launch was relatively smooth, although Bethesda and Zenimax Online Studios were forced to take down the game's various megaservers so that they could implement some last-minute changes.

Now, another maintenance period has already started in Europe, as the region's megaserver is officially offline for maintenance today, April 11, starting at 5am GMT.

The North American The Elder Scrolls Online megaserver will also go down for maintenance today, April 11, but that offline period is set to begin at 8am EDT or 1pm GMT.

The maintenance periods will allow, according to the official website, to improve the overall performance of the game.

Unfortunately, Zenimax wasn't able to provide a timetable for when these enhancements would be completed, so it's unclear for how long The Elder Scrolls Online will be offline for maintenance.

Update: The maintenance on the European TESO megaserver has been completed and things should be operational.

Update #2: The maintenance on the North America TESO megaserver has also been completed. Things are back to normal.
