The Elder Scrolls Online for the PS4 and Xbox One platforms has been delayed by about six months, at least according to an early FAQ page that popped up on the official website and was quickly taken down.

The Elder Scrolls Online was supposed to be the big bet from publisher Zenimax concerning multiplayer and Bethesda's popular The Elder Scrolls RPG franchise but, ever since its debut on PC and Mac last month, it failed to live up to expectations.

After periods of downtime and an avalanche of hackers, players are starting to cancel their subscriptions to the MMORPG, just as it's preparing to debut for the PS4 and Xbox One in June.

However, according to an updated FAQ posted on the official website, the game's console debut might be delayed by at least six months.

"While it has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn't going to be possible, we have made great progress, we have concluded that we'll need about six more months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve," the FAQ said, via Reddit.

The reference has since been removed, and Bethesda is apparently starting to delete any posts about this from the official forums.

Expect to see a potential confirmation of the delay in the near future.

Update: It's official. Bethesda has confirmed the delay and revealed that PC and Mac owners will be able to buy the game on the new consoles at a discount.
