With Fallout 4 at the center of attention, no one expected the team at Bethesda to announce a new installment in the long-running The Elder Scrolls franchise, but the company did reveal one new title linked to the universe.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a strategic card game that will be launched on both the PC and mobile devices before the end of the year.

The reveal trailer talks about destinies and seems to introduce some of the character classes that will be playable in the coming experience, but no actual gameplay images are shown.

Bethesda is not saying how it will combine the classic ideas of the card game genre with a more strategic approach.

The lore associated with The Elder Scrolls is certainly deep enough to allow developers to create a wide variety of cards and gameplay mechanics.

It will be interesting to see how the company plans to monetize the experience and whether it creates a link with other titles in the franchise.

The big problem for The Elder Scrolls: Legends is that it will have to compete with the already well-established Hearthstone from Blizzard, which has already received a major content drop from the studio and might get another before the end of the year.
