2K Games and Digital Extremes have confirmed that a demo for their upcoming The Darkness II shooter will be released on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

The Darkness II is shaping up to be quite a violent experience, at least judging by the array of trailers and screenshots we’ve seen of the bloody shooter.

Now, ahead of the game’s release at the beginning of February, its developer and publisher have confirmed that a demo is going to be released across all of its platforms.

First to get their hands on the demo for The Darkness II are Xbox Live Gold subscribers, who receive it on January 17.

A week after that, on January 24, the demo will be released, for U.S. PlayStation 3 owners, Steam users and Xbox Live Free members. A day after that, European and Asian PS3 users will also be able to download the demo.

The full version of The Darkness II is out on February 7, in the U.S., and February 10, in Europe.
