Ubisoft has confirmed that it's going to release plenty of free downloadable content for its upcoming The Crew open world online racing game, as players need fresh things to enjoy in order to stay connected to the experience.

The Crew is set to launch later this year and Ubisoft has partnered with Ivory Tower to deliver a great online experience that focuses on a multitude of events, not to mention intense cooperative and competitive racing.

While the game will have microtransactions for performance parts that can be bought with in-game cash or real-life money, this doesn't mean that everything in The Crew has a price tag attached to it.

According to Creative Director Julian Gerighty, who talked with Ubisoft's community representatives in a new video, there will be plenty of free DLC for the upcoming racing game.

"One of the things that I really want to do is to keep providing people with content after launch. So free content just to keep people engaged in the game," Gerighty mentioned.

It's going to be interesting to see how Ubisoft chooses to monetize the online experience and how it will sell it across its many platforms like PC, PS4, or Xbox One.
