The Austin-based Versus Evil has been officially launched as an indie publishing company today, stating their goal to be helping talented indie devs launch unique, creative and groundbreaking video games across all platforms.

The company's first published title, Stoic's narrative-driven turn-based strategy game The Banner Saga, was launched last month to great success, being met with positive reviews from both critics and players, being considered 2014's first new remarkable intellectual property.

Versus Evil will now be turning its attention toward a handful of other game releases that are yet to be announced, as well as considering potential partnership opportunities with other independent development studios.

Versus Evil has expressed its interest to work with passionate development teams, and will be taking meeting with developers at this year's Game Connection and Game Developers Conference, taking place from March 17 to March 21 in San Francisco.

The team behind Versus Evil's main focus is creating strong partnerships that offer the development teams all the support they require in order to maintain their identity, direct support capabilities including marketing, advertising, public relations, social media, community management and senior level counsel regarding product strategy, monetization and distribution.

"We are not in this business to take over a game's creative direction or vision. We are here to work with each studio in a very transparent, open relationship and focus on the business needs of the studio so the dev teams can concentrate on making the games they love. This focus allows us to be a part in the creation of successful companies, not just successful products," said Versus Evil General Manager Steve Escalante.

Escalante previously worked at Bethesda Softworks and Zenimax Online Studios, his team bringing together talented people with marketing, sales, business development and community management experience from many triple-A products.
