The series has been losing sales since it was launched

Video game publisher THQ has confirmed that it was ready to create a new title in the UFC Undisputed series before moving to sell the entire license to EA Sports for an undisclosed sum.

Since the franchise was introduced in 2009, it had seen a constant drop in real sales and it seems that the third full game, which was launched last year, has not managed to recuperate its development costs.

After UFC Undisputed was sold to EA Sports, which will probably announce a new title linked to it later during 2012, THQ still has to deal with the fallout from the layoffs that took place at its San Diego studio, which could cost the company more than 1.1 million dollars (880,000 Euro).

THQ has recently announced that it has been focusing its business on a number of core titles in order to try and get back to profitability while selling off all its other franchises.
