A digital goods analysis form called Superdata says that World of Warcraft will benefit from the introduction of microtransactions for a variety of items beyond pets and mounts.

The MMO from Blizzard has lost subscribers for the last few years and that also means that it is bringing in less revenue for its developer and for Activision.

The decline may continue if the developers insist on only asking gamers for a monthly payment to enjoy all aspects of the game.

Superdata states in a wider World of Warcraft report that, “the game has seen an increasing conversion rate for the its current, add-on, extra-game store, and its microtransaction revenues have held pat overall. What it tells us is that dedicated WoW players are interested in - and will spend money on - microtransactions.”

Blizzard says that it is currently investigating the possibility but will need time to reach a final decision.
