The development team working on Super Smash Bros. is continuing to drip feed players information about the game and a new image revealed by the director of the title seems to suggests that he plans to include Meta Knight as a playable character.

The associated text on the Miiverse service for the Wii U states, “Pic of the day. ‘Hello! I'm Samus, the intergalactic bounty hunter!’ ‘And I am Meta Knight, joining the battle!!’”

The community has quickly discovered that Meta Knight is actually a costume at the moment rather than a full character, and Nintendo or Sakurai haven’t offered any comment on the reveal.

Meta Knight is a constant presence in the Kirby video games and has also appeared in the anime and the manga associated with the franchise.

Fans have always been fascinated by the character’s appearance and his motives and they might look to Super Smash Bros. to offer more details about him, if he is included.

The title will be launched in the middle of September on the 3DS handheld in Japan and on October 3 on the same device in Europe and in North America.

The much more important Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. is also expected to arrive before the end of the year.
