Video game hardware maker and publisher Nintendo announces that it will be launching the first ever tournament for Super Smash Bros. on the 3DS handheld at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, on July 25.

All fans who are interested in getting a spot in the line-up will need to register at the Nintendo Gaming Lounge at the Marriott Marquis & Marina located at 333 W. Harbor Drive, next to the San Diego Convention Center.

Nintendo states, “During the finals, players will duke it out one-on-one to determine the top smasher. Tournament slots are limited, and fans will be able to sign up the day of the event on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Fans of the title will be able to watch all the action from the Super Smash Bros. 3DS tournament at the San Diego Comic-Con, which can be seen on the official Twitch channel of the company.

The video game will be launched on October 3 and a version for the Wii U home console will arrive before the end of the year.

Both video games will include new mechanics and a solid line-up of characters inspired by classic Nintendo franchises, but they will include very different stages and game modes, with no cross-platform play.
