Masahiro Sakurai, the director working on the new Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS and the Wii U, has offered fans of the series a look at the single-player mode that will be included in the coming title, while making it clear that it is not narrative driven.

The developer states on the messaging service of the Wii U, quoted by NeoGAF: “Pic of the Day. Where am I? To be clear, the new Super Smash Bros. games do not feature a story mode like The Subspace Emissary.”

The image is taken from the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. and most fans will probably be happy with the news given that the story was never the title’s strong point.

Super Smash Bros. is a brawler that uses a wide variety of characters taken from Nintendo intellectual properties.

The game is expected during the second half of the year and could be the one to revive the fortunes of the Wii U.
