Nintendo has released a demo for the Nintendo 3DS version of the upcoming brawling video game Super Smash Bros., allowing gamers to battle as Mario, Link, Mega Man, Pikachu and fan favorite Villager.

The release of the demo has revealed that the 3DS game comes with a neat instructional video that starts playing if you sit idly at the start screen. The video covers some of the basics gameplay elements of the game, including Smash Ball, Smash Attacks, Combos, and other such features.

The demo has also revealed that there are twenty-seven stages in total, and the character selection screen features all the playable characters revealed so far, as DualShockers reports.

The video game is not a classic fighting title, as the purpose is not to deplete your opponents' health bar, but instead to knock them off the playing area. Characters feature a damage system that will make them be knocked farther the more punishment they take, helping opponents knock them off the stage easier.

The game comes with a wealth of Nintendo characters from various franchises that the company has created or hosted on its consoles over the years, including Mario, Luigi, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Sonic, Mega Man, Samus Aran, and many others.

Super Smash Bros. is coming out for the Nintendo 3DS on September 13 in Japan and October 3 in North America, with the Nintendo Wii U edition of the brawler set for release sometime during Q4 2014.
