Developer Cyanide Studios has just released a brand-new gameplay video showing off their upcoming infiltration game, Styx: Master of Shadows.

The upcoming game takes place in the same universe that the developer's Of Orcs and Men recreated, with the story being set a long time before the events of that game, exploring the origin story of Styx, the first Goblin, following his quest to steal the heart of a World-Tree that is enclosed within a huge tower.

Styx has a wide array of skills and special talents that allow him to scale the incredible heights of the Tower of Akenash and to melt with the shadows, making his way unnoticed and relying on guile and cunning for success.

The upcoming game won't be based on direct combat, but instead on Styx' subtlety, as his frail figure doesn't allow him to take the many guards head-on. Fortunately, his experience as a master thief comes in handy, and the expansive skill tree offers a ton of options when it comes to devising solutions that draw on subterfuge rather than brute strength.

The video displays a mix of gameplay and developer commentary, explaining the various situations on-screen and talking about the many options that players have when tackling their missions, and the ways they can manipulate the environment to their advantage.

Styx: Master of Shadows is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms, sometime near the end of this year.
