You take on the role of the first Goblin ever, trying to make sense of your origins

French developer Cyanide Studios has released a brand new trailer for its upcoming action-adventure video game Styx: Master of Shadows.

Due to the similarities between its game and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed series, and due to the protagonist being a green-skinned goblin, the studio decided to dub the video "Assassin's Green," in a pretty lame pun meant to convey the stealth-based action and vertical movement emphasis of the upcoming Styx: Master of Shadows.

The story is tied to the developer's previous creation, 2012's Of Orcs and Men, and although it features the same tiny thief, the events take place a long time ago in the past. Styx is the first of the goblins, and he desires to steal the heart of a World-Tree shielded by the massive Tower of Akenash, in an attempt to understand his own origin.

As the video does a pretty good job at painting, the game will be all about stealthily navigating huge environments and quietly stealing stuff and stabbing guards, making use of the protagonist's masterful arsenal of abilities.

Styx is not much of a fighter, and his frail body forces him to rely on cunning and strategy in order to defeat his opponents. Thankfully, he is a nimble climber, and his many years of thieving around have taught him plenty about the art of killing from the shadows.

Styx: Master of Shadows is slated for an October 2014 release, coming to the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
