Developer Double Helix has announced the release date for the highly-anticipated reboot of classic platformer Strider, coming to consoles in just two weeks.

Strider is a metroidvania style of game, mixing platforming with hack-and-slash action, initially released as an 1989 arcade title, and now Capcom and Double Helix are releasing the remake as a digital download.

Along with lightning-fast gameplay and a variety of moves in the assassin's arsenal, the game will also come with a few challenge modes, offering veterans some replay value. From checkpoint speedruns to a survival mode that has players going through countless waves of enemies with different equipment constraints, the devs seem to have thought of everything.

Judging from the gameplay showcase video, the game looks solid and Double Helix have done the franchise justice, delivering an intense and interesting experience.

Strider is planned to land on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC platforms, arriving on the PlayStation Store on February 18, followed by all other platforms on February 19.
