The acclaimed indie platformer SteamWorld Dig will be making its way to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita platforms this spring, developer Image & Form Games has announced.

The news came via a PSBlog post, in which Brjann Sigurgeirsson, CEO of the independent Swedish studio, offers more details on the quirky platformer.

Players will be able to take on the role of Rusty, a good old mining steambot, and help him dig his way to fortune in a western setting.

Dubbed a “mining platform adventure” by its creators, SteamWorld Dig offers quite the unique gameplay experience, as although it is a mining game it also features a storyline with a defined beginning and end.

Players will be able to venture deep beneath the ground, finding gems and minerals, buying various upgrades back in town, and uncovering numerous mysteries during their journey.

SteamWorld Dig is currently also available on PC, Mac, Linux and the Nintendo 3DS handheld console.
