Gabe Newell, the leader of Valve, says that his company has seen a lot of new game content created via its Workshop initiative and that player creativity will be important to the developer’s future evolution.

The developer is quoted by Gamasutra as saying that, “I think we are going to continue to see tremendous innovation coming out of that potential. Out of the unusual, crazy, weird, disgusting, but ultimately wonderful experiences that people are creating for each other.”

Workshop enabled Steam games to give players an easy way to create their own content and mods and then share them with the community.

According to Newell, there are community members who have managed to make 300,000 Euro (395,000 dollars) from their creations, which is impressive given the fact that Valve takes a 75 percent cut of the revenue.

Steam is still the biggest digital distribution solution on the PC and Valve has plans to increase its social elements.
