The team at Valve in charge of the Steam digital distribution service announces that it has introduced a new Reviews system for it, designed to replace the old Recommendations system and give gamers more information when they are interested in evaluating a title before buying it.

All users are able to browse all the reviews, comment on them and rate them in terms of usefulness.

Valve states in the official announcement that, "Over the past few years, Steam users have written over 7 million Recommendations of games and software to their friends. Those Recommendations have been upgraded to Steam Reviews."

The Steam Reviews feature is in beta, which means that the company is ready to listen to feedback coming from fans in order to improve it in the coming months.

Valve is eager to add more functionality to Steam in order to keep its status as the leader of the digital download market on the PC.
