Valve has apparently implemented a brand new mechanic on Steam

Valve has apparently implemented a much simpler way of canceling pre-orders and requesting refunds from its Steam digital distribution service, as users can just go to their transaction history and click a link requesting their money back.

Steam has allowed game pre-orders for quite some time but, in case you changed your mind and decided not to buy an unreleased game, you had to contact the Steam support staff and have them modify the transactions.

Now, according to a new thread on the Steam community forums, refunds are possible straight within the digital service, without having to contact the support representatives.

In a user's transaction history page, all pre-orders should now have a special link under them called "Refund an Item."

Unfortunately, it's still unclear just how the system works, as Valve has yet to confirm anything about the new mechanic.
