The development team at Valve working on the in-home streaming feature of Steam announces that it is currently preparing new elements for the tech, which will be part of a future update, designed to reduce latency and add support for new encoding processes.

The official announcement on the forums states that, “Don't be surprised if the updates slow down for a bit. We're revamping the architecture to reduce latency and support hardware accelerated encoding.”

In-home streaming for Steam allows gamers to deliver video between two devices that are running the digital distribution service.

It will be one of the most important parts of SteamOS and is currently in beta form.

This year, Valve will launch its first official operating system, alongside an entirely new haptic controller and hardware created by partner companies.

The company is also continuing to add new features to Steam, like the new Tagging options.
