Shams Jorjani, the vice president in charge of business development at Paradox Interactive, says that the haptic controller that Valve is developing works at the moment well with strategy games, which traditionally require a mouse and keyboard.

His Twitter account states, “4 hours with the Steam controller today - Impression so far - works best with lean back strategy games - Europa Universalis and Civ5-likes.”

The Steam haptic controller is currently under development at Valve and the company is working with developers in order to make the device a solid success on launch.

At the same time the company is working with hardware partners to create version of the Steam Box, which is expected to officially arrive this year.

The Steam controller and other associated hardware is designed to make PC gaming more accessible and expand the reach of the digital distribution service from Valve.
