Starfall Tactics, an upcoming indie strategy game, wants to let you command an armada and conquer the stars.

There are never enough real-time space wargames, no matter what Steam might tell you. The trailer shows off some of the strategic features of the upcoming title, while at the same time trying to lighten things up with a little bit of humor.

The game comes from indie studio Snowforged Entertainment and is built on Epic's Unreal Engine 4, which means that it's going to look pretty good, which is especially nice since we're used to space battles having a ton of lasers and visual effects.

While real space battles might end up being much less exciting, we still have a long way until we get there, a lot of time which we can spend fantasizing about the potential greatness of massive battles imagined in the fashion of 17th century naval battles, with capital ships sitting side by side and smashing each other to smithereens.

The first trailer for the upcoming free-to-play space wargame looks pretty promising, pitting three different factions against each other, fighting for dominance in a war-torn galaxy.

The game features extensive customization options and is currently in pre-alpha, so we're going to have to summon up some patience until we're able to get our hands on it.
