Team Chucklefish has announced that their 2D sandbox space game Strabound has just passed one million copies sold, only one month after the beta started.

Starbound is yet another indie success story, a game that takes place in a two-dimensional procedurally generated universe that players will explore and exploit in order to gain new weapons, armor and other items.

The game managed to gross more than $1 / €0.7 million in pre-orders within a month of its announcement, and the beta test version was made available through Steam Early Access for PC on December 4.

It would appear that the developers are making all the right moves with their title, as a recent post on Starbound's Twitter revealed the studio has just passed the one million units sold milestone.

The full version is expected to launch later this year and Team Chucklefish also intends to deliver the game on the PlayStation Vita, following in the footsteps of other successful indie games like Fez, Rogue Legacy and Minecraft.
