The development team at BioWare working on Star Wars: The Old Republic announces the introduction of a new set of gameplay mechanics built around Macrobinoculars, a gadget that was first seen in A New Hope used on Tatooine.

The technology is added in the new Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion and will allow players to track down enemies in the distance and scan the game world in order to uncover hidden objects that might come with a reward.

BioWare is also creating a new storyline around Macrobinoculars, with players invited to use them to track down the Shroud enemies.

They write on the official blog that, “Be prepared to put on your thinking cap, as the Shroud is a mastermind when it comes to protecting his plans. Players will need to overcome obstacles in their path, and we don’t just mean new and tough enemies.”
