Video game publisher Disney announces that it is currently canceling development on Star Wars: Attack Squadrons, which was supposed to be launched at some point later in 2014, in order to use the resources associated with it to develop other titles linked to the series.

The game was supposed to offer a light hearted arcade experience focused on dog fighting in the depths of space between Empire and Rebel forces that used the iconic hardware from the movies, with a system that allowed players to team up with players into groups.

A beta stage was launched for a limited number of gamers and the developers are thanking them for the time spent in beta and for the feedback they have offered.

The last message on the official site reads, "We want to thank all of the fans who participated in the closed beta of Star Wars: Attack Squadrons. After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences."

Star Wars: Attack Squadrons was clearly not a high priority project and at the moment, Disney is working with Electronic Arts on three titles linked to the franchise that should be launched alongside the coming movies.
