Phil Rogers, the European chief executive officer of video game publisher Square Enix, says that the gaming world is changing and companies need to be more open and transparent in order to keep fans satisfied in the long term.

He tells MCV that “I think our games, brands and us as a company must talk openly, must engage and must be true to our promises. Of course many will point out that there’s risk in doing this but if we can do this we’ll capture hearts and minds, earn trust and command loyalty and premium.”

Recently, the company announced a new direction for the Hitman series via an open letter to the community, which has generally been well-received by fans.

The CEO also says that Square Enix wants to make sure that gamers always have the best info about its titles and is even willing to offer information on canceled projects and to comment on rumors.
