The reveal that Deus Ex: The Fall was set to launch on mobile devices and tablets annoyed some fans of the series, but publisher Square Enix says the game is part of a wider plan that also includes big releases for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

Jon Brooke, the marketing director at the European division of the company, tells MCV that “We're a big publisher, so you know we'll be showing next gen gaming at E3 next week. We're as serious about next gen as we are about tablet gaming.”

Square Enix says that all modern gaming platforms are capable of delivering great experiences as long as the teams working on them adapt their output.

The Fall is a parallel story to that seen in Deus Ex: Human Revolution and will use traditional game mechanics, including stealth and exploration.
