Two of the most eagerly awaited Japanese role-playing games that are in development at Square Enix, Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV, share a director, Tetsuya Nomura, and that means that players will have to wait a few years before they play them.

The company has not said which one of the two titles will be released first, but presumably, Tetsuya Nomura is at the moment working on Final Fantasy XV because the franchise is more popular with gamers on all continents.

Shinji Hashimoto, the producer of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, tells IGN that, “We announced it at E3. A lot of people have wondered for the past couple of years if Square Enix has actually been working on Kingdom Hearts III.”

Square Enix needs to create hits with both Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV after the problems it has had with the recent re-launch of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
