Miles Jacobson, the leader of the development team at Sports Interactive, says that the upcoming Football Manager 2014 will continue to showcase the unpredictable side of the sport despite the increased focus on accurate stats.

Speaking to Squawka about the overall use of statistics in the game, the developer says, “It’s one area in football that statistics alone cannot show and cannot prove – the uncertainties. The uncertainties of weather conditions or playing at different altitudes – even if you take all of that into account, what you can’t account for is real human nature.”

Even an apparently simple match-up like Colchester versus Manchester United can become interesting and generate a surprising result in Football Manager 2014 because the game models so many elements linked to performance.

The new game from Sports Interactive will introduce more than 1,000 changes to the classic formula, including more options for tactics and man management.
