The creators of the streaming app XSplit Broadcaster are now introducing their lightweight Windows desktop app specifically designed to facilitate the streaming and recording of gameplay from either PC or consoles, XSplit Gamecaster.

SplitmediaLabs' streaming app is compatible with all major streaming platforms such as Twitch, UStream, YouTube and many others, and is intended as a simple to use and resource-light solution for capturing and sharing gameplay with the world.

The XSplit Gamecaster's Console Viewer Mode can be used to stream and record footage from a hooked up Xbox, PlayStation or Wii U, and the program also permits the use of a webcam, complete with chroma key, for a more immersive streaming experience.

The streaming app has a built-in annotation overlay that can be used to highlight key points and events, explain attack plans or just doodle on the screen.

The Gamecaster apps also comes with social media integration, allowing easy interaction with friends and fans over Twitch chat or by sharing to Facebook, Twitter or Google+ and even uploading to YouTube from in-game.

XSplit Gamecaster is scheduled for release to the public on February 18, 2014.
