Video game publisher Namco Bandai has announced that its fighting game Soul Calibur V will be launched on February 2 on the Japanese market, showing a cover for the game that combines Patroklos, Nightmare and Assassin’s Creed guest star Ezio.

The Japanese cover art is pretty impressive, especially when compared to the European and United States temporary covers, which just show two blades crossed.

Soul Calibur V does away with Critical Finishes and the Soul Gauge and replaces them with something like the Super meter of other fighting titles.

Armor remains destructible but players will find it harder to know exactly when it will break.

There are also no more parries and players will have more options linked to how they move around their characters.

Western gamers will get access to Soul Calibur V on January 31 of next year and Europe gets it three days later.

The game will be playable on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
