Sony has pledged that it won't segregate or discriminate against independent games for the PlayStation 4, as it wants to deliver a level playing field between indie titles and big triple-A experiences.

The PlayStation 4 is banking big on attracting independent developers worldwide, not just big publishers like Electronic Arts, Activision, or Ubisoft.

Sony's Agostino Simonetta once again emphasized this commitment via Joystiq, saying that "Every single individual developer is a publisher as far as we're concerned. We don't separate, we don't segregate indies from traditional publishers."

What's more, Simonetta also confirmed that Sony wanted to maintain a great relationship with indie developers, while giving them the freedom to decide when their titles will appear for the PS4 and in what form.

The one-step approval process has also been designed to streamline the whole launch experience, and Sony will only provide feedback if developers want it, according to the executive.
