The PlayStation 4 is currently the best-selling of the crop of next-gen consoles, and Sony says that it needs to deal with so much demand that it will only be able to ensure that all potential buyers get access to a home console at some point during early summer.

Andre House, the current chief executive officer of Sony Computer Entertainment, is quoted by VG247 as saying that “We’re struggling to keep up with demand. Conservatively, as we get into the early summer months, we’ll be closer to a full supply situation.”

The Sony leader notes that sales have been strong in all territories where the PlayStation 4 is available, but demand is currently the strongest in North America and in Europe.

The company has said that strong demand in Japan has pushed the overall sales of its next-gen device over the 6-million mark.

Microsoft has lastly offered an official number in January, when it announced that the Xbox One had surpassed the 3-million mark.

The platform will only be launched on 26 secondary markets in September of this year.

The launch of Titanfall in March has impacted sales of the devices, and more official data will be offered after the end of March, when both companies need to reveal their financial situations.
