Sony says that the core system software for the PlayStation 4 is still in development and that’s why the company has opted to reveal only a small part of the user interface to the public so far.

Shuhei Yoshida, the leader of the Sony Worldwide Studios, says on the official company blog that, “the system software is still in development. We really wanted to show off the social aspect of the UI.”

Gamers have seen that the PlayStation 4 is designed to give players a lot of information as soon as they boot up the console, including news about their friends, stats about their games and details about coming content for their favorite titles.

The new Sony console and its rival from Microsoft are both designed to tap into the social needs of the current generation of gamers.

The PlayStation 4 is expected to arrive on November 15 in North America and two weeks later in Europe and the Xbox One should be launched in the same month.
