Video game publisher and hardware creator Sony says that the launch of the PlayStation 4 is benefitting from the best game line-up that a gaming platform it has created has ever had.

Jon Koller, the vice president in charge of marketing at the company, tells VentureBeat that “Of the five platform launches we’ve had, this is the best game lineup. It reminds me a lot of the PS2 launch, when we had such pent-up demand – ‘When is the PS2 coming?’ The same thing is happening here.”

The executive also says that he understands why some players might have criticism for the new platform, but he says most reactions have been positive so far.

Sony reveals that the launch of the PlayStation 4 in the United States has generated record sales in the first 24-hour period.

European gamers will get access to the hardware on November 29, and the rival Xbox One from Microsoft will be out this Friday on 13 main markets.
