Video game hardware maker Sony has delivered a rather mysterious new trailer, which suggests that the company might be working on a revival of the PocketStation, with more information set to be announced on November 5.

The official site says that the announcement is designed to “shake the gaming industry.”

The PocketStation was first launched in 1999 and mixes a memory card and a companion device, with five buttons and a screen that could play simple mini-games.

The best known title for it was Dokodemo Issho, who’s main character Toro is seen in the teaser video.

The announcement of a new version of the PocketStation is unlikely, given that Sony has already stated that the PlayStation Vita will be the official companion device for the PS4.

The company will probably simply reveal similar functionality for its handheld and maybe the re-release of some of the titles linked to the older device.
