Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss Jim Ryan has gone on the record during a recent talk show about parental responsibility when it comes to video games and children, saying that parents need to pay attention to what their kids are doing when interacting with a video game platform, like the PS4 console.

Sony has just released the PS4 in Europe and, in order to promote the next-gen device, the company's Jim Ryan went on a morning talk show on BBC, according to a transcript from DualShockers.

Unfortunately, Ryan was assaulted with questions regarding video game violence and the effect on children.

The Sony Europe boss was quick to retort that parents need to pay attention to whatever it is their kids are doing.

"You need to look after your kids a bit better. We feel parents have considerable responsibility in this. We make the games, our industry makes the games: some are for children and some are for adults and we feel that parental responsibility is fundamental," he said.

This great response emphasizes just how important the role of a parent is and that video game companies like Sony can't make absolutely sure a kid doesn't have access to content that he's not allowed.
