The team is just trying to create a good first-person shooter

Jason Kingsley, the leader of developer Rebellion, says that the first-person shooter genre might be once more interested in World War II as a setting, but his team is more interested in creating a great game experience than in following a trend with Sniper Elite 3.

He tells VG247 that, “We don’t concern ourselves with trying to follow a trend: we are just striving to make the best WW2 sniper experience possible – for ourselves, and for those people out there who love the genre as much as us.”

World War II was the initial setting for both Call of Duty and Medal of Honor, the two series that have dominated the first-person shooter for years, but they have since moved to modern themes and locations.

Sniper Elite 3 is expected to arrive on the PC and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.
