Smite developer Hi-Rez Studios has announced the release of a new playable god and of a new arena map for its players to solve their divine quarrels on.

Smite is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena that offers a different experience from the popular ones, bringing a third-person perspective, skill shots and more familiar faces, the god from over 7 pantheons ranging from the Egyptian and Greek to the Chinese.

Players use action combat, including keyboard movement, dodging and aiming.

The new god is Geb, the deity of Earth, with the ability to transform into a huge mass of rolling dirt. His arsenal also features controlling shockwaves and much more. Geb also possesses a passive skill that allows him to take less damage from critical strikes.

The new arena map will feature completely updated art and will reward player aggression, after every 10 kills a powerful Manticore spawning. Should a team manage to successfully guide the Manticore through the other team's portal, that team will lose 10 points.

The Hi-Rez Studios announcement has the complete list of changes in the new patch.

Smite is currently in open beta, expecting the launch of the final version on March 25.
