The team behind the Skywind mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has announced that the project's public alpha test is "coming soon."

Morrowind is the third installment in The Elder Scrolls adventure, and the modders behind the Skywind project aim to deliver all its great content on the more robust Skyrim engine, in order to allow fans to relive the adventures through the lens of modern graphics.

The newest trailer showcases more of the team's work so far, highlighting the original content and new assets added to the mod. Morrowind veterans will see some familiar locations, in the form of Balmore, Solstheim, West Gash, and some other lovely settings.

The project is, of course, a huge undertaking, as the designers don't plan on just recreating Morrowind's environments, upgraded with custom meshes, but to also have all the gear and items, the NPCs, monster and quests from TES3, and all of them fully functional.

The devs have taken down the public build they had on the project's website, due to its very rudimentary nature, but they say that a public alpha is "coming soon."

In order to be able to try out Skywind once the alpha goes public, you will require a copy of Morrowind, along with the Blood Moon and Tribunal expansions, and, of course, a copy of The Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim, which will run the actual content through its interface, combat system and enhanced graphics engine.
