Lab Zero Games has just announced that it intends to launch Skullgirls Encore on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita platforms sometime later this year.

The comic-style fighting game has garnered quite a following since launch, and Lab Zero Games, the dev who handled the 2013 PC port of the title, will also be in charge of making the new PlayStation versions.

"The PS4 and PS Vita versions of Skullgirls Encore will be complete, including all of the DLC characters, stages, and story funded by Lab Zero's Indiegogo campaign, as well as 'All Play' multiplayer lobbies and an extensive art gallery," the developer promises.

Also, as a bonus, the Vita edition of Skullgirls Encore will be playable on the PlayStation TV, with a two-player local mode, compatible with the DualShock 3 and DualShock 4 controllers.

Skullgirls Encore is a classic 2D fighting game that has an interesting history, having been originally made by Reverge Labs and released by Konami, before being picked up by Marvelous AQL, forcing the game's withdrawal from sale for a time.

Lab Zero Games took to re-releasing the game for PC, and then for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms earlier this year, adding a ton of changes and improvements to the base experience and dubbing it Skullgirls Encore.
