A new game mode has been revealed during Salty Cupcakes, EightySixed's Skullgirls stream. The new mode challenges players with a unique mechanic, having to type out certain phrases in order to increase their damage output.

The way the new game mode functions is by having characters do very little normal damage, with only super attacks doing any real harm.

Super meter is automatically gained during the match, and once a super is initiated, a word phrase will show up on-screen and players will only have a short time at their disposal to type out the phrase on their keyboards.

Having 100 percent accuracy will increase the super attack's damage by 50 percent, while having a few mistakes will do normal damage. But having many mistakes or failing to type it altogether will cause the super to only do 10 percent of its damage.

Typing of the Skullgirls will work in Story Mode, Arcade Mode and Versus Mode, but not in Tournament Mode or Online. While playing against the AI, players will also have the opportunity to type phrases in order to guard against enemy supers.

The new mode has been described as a fun new way to play with friends or family members who may not be fans of fighting games.
