Video game publisher Electronic Arts has announced that it will close down The Sims Social, SimCity Social and Pet Society on June 14 because the titles have seen a big decline in activity and have failed to generate any long-term prospects.

All the three games are made by PlayFish and they were supposed to be part of a push to create a varied experience for fans of social gamers and the Sims universe.

Eurogamer quotes EA as saying that, “We hope you have gotten many hours of enjoyment out of the games and we thank you for everything you've added to the community.”

Resources are apparently redirected to other social video games, although so far, the publisher has not mentioned any new names.

Bejeweled Blitz, Solitaire Blitz and Plants vs. Zombies Adventures, all PopCap Games created, are still supported.
