Retro platformer game Shovel Knight will be seeing the light of day on March 31, on the PC, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS platforms.

Developer Yacht Club Games informed that the game has just entered an alpha phase, which means that all content and features have been implemented, and the game is now playable.

As the devs now start working on fixing bugs and adding polish, their supporters can feast their eyes on the new trailer available for Shovel Knight, while they wait for the March release.

The original launch date was supposed to be around September 2013, and the developers tried to explain that they did not expect their Kickstarter campaign to be as successful as it was (raising four times the intended goal during April 2013).

“If you're wondering why it took so long, let's just say the game got a lot bigger than we originally intended, and we think everyone will be happy with that,” the devs stated on the Shovel Knight official site.

Shovel Knight is available for preorder on the Yacht Club Games page, including a deluxe version of the game that comes with a digital manual and art book.
