The developer believes that a unique platform would be better

Shinji Mikami, the creator of the Resident Evil series, strongly believes that in the future, gamers will need to use just one home console because having different versions of a game does not benefit the industry.

He is quoted by TheSixthAxis as saying that, “We only need one console.”

He adds, “when Xbox One was first announced it had lower specs than PS4, but now they’re almost identical. So either will do.”

At the moment, Shinji Mikami is working with a new team on The Evil Within, a survival horror video game experience that’s supposed to use the core mechanics of the genre.

The title is expected to arrive on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in 2014, but versions will also be available on current-gen consoles.

The quality of the game needs to be consistent across all platforms.
