Jordan Weisman, the founder of Harebrained Schemes, believes that the launch of the editor alongside the upcoming Shadowrun Returns will keep the series alive because it will allow fans to create their own scenarios and play them with friends.

He tells VG247 that, “Shadowrun is alive and well after 24 years because of the fans and players who have kept it going and I fully expect our players to design stories and gameplay in the Shadowrun Returns engine that blows us away – and hopefully keep the universe going for more decades to come.”

The new game is designed to use the core elements of the franchise while updating the mechanics so that they also appeal to modern gamers.

Shadowrun Returns will be launched on the PC in late June and the entire experience was created using funding obtained via Kickstarter.
