Devolver Digital and Croteam have announced that a team of Serious Sam fans going by the name of Alligator Pit have launched Serious Sam Classics: Revolution on Steam Early Access, an updated version of the classic first-person shooter.

Serious Sam Classics: Revolution takes fan modding to the next level with a slew of enhanced features, with updated technology, new gameplay modes, new campaign levels, and the inclusion of all the fan-favorite mods, weapons and maps.

The production was created entirely by the Serious Sam community, under the close supervision of Croteam, unifying Serious Sam Classic: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter.

The original games launched in 2001 and 2002 and became instant cult classics, leading to various sequels and spin-off in the following decade.

Serious Sam Classics: Revolution was started by a small team of dedicated fans whose goal was for the game to live on modern computers, and to expand the timeless classic's fanbase with new players.

Through Steam Early Access and Steamworks integration, the team plans to completely update the underlying technology that the game runs on, in order to create new content, new campaigns and exciting gameplay modes for the legendary first-person shooter.

Serious Sam Classics: Revolution is available now on Steam via Early Access, and current owners of Serious Sam Classic: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter on Steam can download it for free.
